Dick’s Kitchen (sit-down restaurant; outdoor dining available; great atmosphere; nice touch on American cuisine) – 2 locations: NW 21st Ave & SE Belmont St

Cultured Caveman (food cart; limited menu, but tasty, small items so that you can try many things) – 2 locations: NE Alberta & SE Hawthorne

Broth Bar (this SE Portland restaurant is on my “to try” list- it is sure to appeal to the paleo/GAPS crowd with its focus on nutrient-dense bone broth)

The Brooklyn House Restaurant (another SE Portland restuarant on my “to try” list, Brooklyn House offers European comfort food for individuals with just about any dietary restriction out there)

Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free (Vegan options, too!):

The Slide Inn (German American restaurant that is understanding of dietary restrictions, able to make many items dairy and gluten-free as well as vegan)

Prasad (organic, gluten-free, & vegan; great for breakfast or lunch; beverages, juices, smoothies, and flavorful dishes with plenty of veggies) – Pearl

Kiva (tea bar with many varieties; salads and light fare; outdoor seating)- NW Alphabet District

Freshii (best for to-go orders; you can choose a menu item and easily customize it to meet your dietary restrictions because the ingredients are listed on the menu)- 2 Downtown locations

Petunia’s Pies & Pastries (best gluten-free, vegan sweets around; watch out- you might become addicted like I did- unfortunately, sugars feed my SIBO)- Downtown, also sold at grocery stores and  cafes around town

    • Hi Robin,

Unfortunately, I don’t know of any lists in other cities. In terms of national chains, Chipotle can be an option for some people. I can usually get away with a salad with dressing, meat, & a little bit of rice. Their ingredients are online.
